Emery has already made a key signing in Lucas Torreira, who starred at the World Cup for Uruguay. The former Sampdoria central midfielder has been brought in to add steel to the midfield, an area that Arsenal have lacked a ball winner since the days of Gilberto Silva. Along with Torreira, Arsenal have already signed Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno, Borussia Dortmund centre back Sokratis Papastathopoulos, experienced full back Stephan Lichtsteiner and French youngster Matteo Guendouzi.

A few targets that were also heavily linked to Arsenal during the transfer window to complete Emery’s squad included; Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele, Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman and Sevilla’s Steven N’Zonzi.
